Cleoniceras  Ammonites, were  early squid-like creatures.  This is from Madagascar and lived in the  Lower Cretaceous period, 110 million years ago.  These ammonites became  available about 10 yrs ago and until then, nacreous ammonites – ie still with Mother of Pearl shell, were very rare and consequently very expensive.

Now as highly collectable as they are also beautiful, Cleoniceras  are sought after for their decorative appeal. This specimen is particularly pearly and  superbly iridescent.   Collectors of fossils and lovers of beautiful things, especially shells, will be enchanted by this ancient, precious treasure.
